The UEFA has unveiled the introduction of the special seats in the halfway line of the stadium during Euro 2024 along with the other tickets that will be available for sale in December. The tickets for group games will cost 400 euros ($429) and the final game ticket is priced at 2,000 euros ($2,146) at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin on 14th July.
UEFA, in an official statement, revealed that it would begin the sale of the tickets for the 2024 European Championship in Germany from next month. As many as 1.2 million seats would be offered up for sale. Ticket prices for the same-stage matches vary from 30 euros ($32) to 1,000 euros ($1,072) for the final game.
Veling for the most expensive seats among the 2.7 million tickets for the 51 games will be in a new "Prime Seats" category. Those prices will make the Euro 2022 ticket prices the highest ones in history by more than 200%!
UEFA announced that the seats on the halfway line for Euro 2024 would be available for sale in December, the price of group-stage tickets is 400 euros ($429) and the price for the Final at Berlin`s Olympic Stadium on July 14 is 2,000 euros ($2,146).
In Germany, the football tournaments usually bring in large sums of money. The current cheapest hospitality package price for the upcoming 2024 World Cup in Germany is approximately 40% higher than it was at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
UEFA expressed in April its plan to produce a total of at least 2.4 billion euros ($2.6 billion) in revenue from Euro 2024. This initiative seeks to augment the cash reserves which were revised downwards as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, in an attempt to overcome 500 million euros ($536 million).
Game tickets on sale from 3rd October up to 26th October are for the games to be played in the first part of the one-month tournament in ten German cities, which is yet to be fully scheduled. UEFA, which processes transactions via its official website, states that this phase is the best opportunity for the fans to buy the tickets, mainly the local ones.
The second stage of the campaign, on the other hand, which will run two days after the draw in Hamburg on December 2, will be focused on the fans of particular teams. Moreover, 21 of the full 24-nation rosters would be revealed. The last three qualifying tickets to be held by UEFA for the fanatical fans will be the ones that go to the winners of the playoffs in March.
UEFA has given away over 80% of the 2.7 million tickets available for the 51 games to fans of the 24 participating teams and the public.
UEFA announced that 380,000 seats would be accessible in the lowest-priced category, with these seats located behind the goals at the stadium's end. These 270,000 tickets will cost 30 euros ($32) for matches in the group stages.
The 30 euros ($32) price bracket was only offered in three host venues during Euro 2020: Baku, Azerbaijan; Budapest, Hungary; and Bucharest, Romania. These venues were among the 11 countries that welcomed the cup last year during the pandemic. In contrast, ticket prices in other host cities are around 50 euros ($53).
In keeping with the "category 1" status of the Euro 2024, UEFA seems to draw on a strategy from Euro 2020 where these seats were placed in the highest class and allowed a panoramic view of the game. Euro 2020's quarterfinals saw some seats in category 1 sell for 185 euros each, and the tickets for the final match at the Wembley Stadium in London cost 945 euros each. The Euro 2024 final tickets, in the category 1 seats, have been priced at €1,000 ($1,072). This is the UEFA's way of creating a special experience for the fans who will buy the tickets in the top-tier seats.
EUFA has well-regulated ticket allocation in the sense that it has carefully shared the tournament capacity with various parties to ensure equal distribution. 7% of the quota is allocated for dedicated use by broadcasters and sponsors to ensure the broadcasting and promotion of the event, while 4% is earmarked for the hospitality program. The program is, however, administered jointly by Sportfive and Dentsu and it offers a range of packages, starting with 1,250 euros ($1,340) which are much higher than the starting prices in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
In addition, UEFA has set aside 4% of the stadium capacity for the sport and public authorities in Germany which shows the commitment of the organizers to include the local stakeholders and the general public of the host community in the event hosting. At the same time, the EUFA keeps 3% of the total capacity for itself, the national federations and the special guests of the EUFA, so that key stakeholders can have access to the tournament.
One special thing about the Euro 2024 experience in Germany is that all holders of tickets will be offered free transportation using public transport. From 6 a.m. on the match day until 6 p.m. the following day, Deutsche Bahn, the national rail operator and official sponsor, will provide free travel within the host city and its region, and fans can enjoy the trip for free. This plan not only increases the number of fans who can go to the stadium but also creates interest in public transport as a sustainable alternative to private cars.
Therefore, the Euro 2024 tournament will be a real showcase of outstanding football performances that will not only provide top-notch sports but also be accompanied by well-designed hospitality and fans-friendly initiatives, all of which will take place against the world-famous German cities which will host matches throughout the country.
